Message from Leadership

Greetings,
As we present our Annual Report for fiscal year 2024, and pause to reflect on the past year, we are filled with gratitude. From our humble beginnings we have the framework to meet the needs of our community. Founded by two courageous volunteer nurses in 1979, Community Hospice & Health Services (CHHS) has flourished, providing critical resources and compassionate support to enhance quality of life for those facing life-changing journeys.
In 2024, we celebrated the 45th Anniversary of CHHS as the premiere hospice and support services provider in the greater Central Valley. We are grateful for those who have trusted us and allowed us the privilege to be a part of their journey, and for those who made it possible. The steadfast support of our community members and donors has allowed CHHS to answer the call 24/7 for our patients and their families. We are unable to do this important work alone. We are grateful for our many dedicated employees, volunteers, community and healthcare partners, and donors who make our compassionate mission possible.
2024 presented a year of leadership change as CHHS bid farewell to past President/CEO Alisa Bettis and welcomed Chief Financial Officer, Toby Benguerel. I joined CHHS as Interim President/CEO in October 2024. In February 2025, I became the full-time President/CEO. It is an honor to have been selected for this role and I look forward to leading this organization forward. As healthcare and hospice continue to change, the need in our community continues to grow. I understand that there is much work to be done. CHHS will maintain our focus on our mission, embracing individuals and families facing life-changing journeys, enhancing quality of life for all. We will continue to honor and learn from our past as we look to the future to ensure we answer the call for help for many years to come.
Together, we embrace life-changing journeys. Thank you for being a part of CHHS.
With gratitude,
Mathew Francis
President/CEO
